IGNOU, Indira Gandhi National Open University, has launched 11 MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). With this, IGNOU, a very popular name of Distance Learning domain, has entered into the domain of Digital Education and has opened a new door of learning for interested learners.
During 30th Convocation of IGNOU University, Mahendra Nath Panday, Minister of State HRD, came up to address the public and meanwhile made an announced regarding this very laudable initiative of IGNOU University.
Two off 11 launched MOOCs, have already started to operate and the country’s most popular Open University is planning to start the remaining 9 MOOCs by the end of this month. One of the two running MOOCs is the ‘Certificate Course in E-Learning’ and the other one is ‘Certificatie Course in Russian’.
More importantly and very impressively, Indira Gandhi National Open University is also looking to launch another 44 Massive Open Online Courses in next three months.
In previous year, HRD Ministry, in order to provide the educational aid to the students of both universities as well as of schools, launched bunch of 32 Direct-to-Home (DTH) Educational Channels and named it ‘Swayam Prabha’.
Gratefully, HRD Ministry has taken a very commendable decision of giving the channels of Swayam Prabha to IGNOU open university so that it can broadcast its programs in order to further assist its students and thereby set up a digital revolution in the domain of Higher Education.
